I own a 2001 Mazda Miata MX5. I had problems with it in March. I took the car into the dealership for repairs. It took them 3 times to find the problem in which it was the E.G. I unit and was replaced due to emissions recall an the car in which I was not notified. This fixed the problem, at least untill a few days ago. I have put about 13,000 miles on the car sence the repair and it is now doing the same thing again. I took it to a different dealership and they said it was due to carbon build up. I have changed plugs, wires and had carbon blown out. The car has great power until you go just over 100 miles, thats when it get hot and then looses all power. After car cools down it runs fine again, untill it gets hot and it happens all over. I am tired of having to deal with this issue of places not knowing what is wrong, and me spending all this money trying to find the problem because the dealerships dont have a clue. I now have to take my car to the first dealership that had changed the E.G. I unit and hope they find the problem again, and that Mazda is going to pay for repairs. I also would like to know if other people are having the same troubles after the first E.G. I unit being changed. If anyone has had the same problems please let me know, [email protected]
