In mid-March of I ordered two (2) of the "Simplique" Hair Remover products. I saw the ad on TV, and then researched the product on the web. The site, tvinventions.com, futher explained the product, and comfirmed a price of $14.99 including "free" bonuses, plus S&H. I ordered the product via telephone, using my credit card.
I received the items on 4/25. There was no invoice included in the package. On receipt of my credit card statement, I noticed that Tristar products had charged my card in the amount of $80.18. Upon contacting the company after endless "holdtime", they unabashadly told me that they sent me two "deluxe units" @ a charge of $22.48 each, (which I have no real problem with), which equals $44.96 and that the remainder of $35.22 was for SHIPPING & HANDLING CHARGES! I have a BIG problem with that!
It is simply unjustifiable and fraudulant business practice to not disclose S&H charges up front, then to charge more than the cost of the product, and to apply an exhorbitant charge of over $35.00 to ship a package about the size and weight of a standard video tape.
A recent TV ad for the product quoted S&H charges of $4.99 per unit. Consequently, I should only have been charged $9.98 total for S&H, and I want Tristar to credit my account for $25.24.in addition to this report, I intend to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and the US Postal Service Mail Fraud Division, and any internet resource I can discover. I will also dispute the charges through my credit card company.
