Complaint / Review
First Consumers National Bank (FCNB)
Ripoff dirty dogs PORTLAND Oregon

First of all, I got a Newport News Charge about 4.5 years ago. I never had a problem with them. Then I got an offer for a FCNB charge card, Visa. I was never told that they were going out of business and charged me my annual fee back in November, they told me beginning March 7 the charges for Newport News, FCNB Visa, Eddie Bauer would not be honored. I had always sent the company an even number, as I always paid the bill in full. Luckily the overpayment this time was only $1.51, but I believe they should pay that and at least a partial payment of the annual fee, they HAD TO KNOW they were going out of business. When I called Newport News, they told me I would have to deal with the bank, FCNB. All I ever received was a busy signal. I tried to write them, and their response to me was that just because they were going out of business, it did not mean I was not obligated to keep my responsibilities. I believe this is a terrble thing, how can these companies get away with this sort of thing? Why should they get to keep our money? What if I had overpaid $25.00? They would have kept that as well? I plan on calling them one more time, then I will contact Legal Aid, and I am sure the State of Connecticut Attorney General would be more than interested in this sort of thing. Wish me luck, as I see by your letters this company has had an awful reputation for quite some time. I will keep you posted. And, again, wish me luck, it certainly looks like I am going to need it!!
