Meridian Care Nursing Home in San Antonio TX located on Crestway Dr near Windcrest subdivision - also known as Trinity Care until new owners bought it out in 2005 due to the 2nd bankruptcy. New owners live in The Woodlands outside of Houston and they do not have any idea what goes on in that facility. The facility is always understaffed but will sit there and lie to your face saying it's not so! It IS so! I know! I see! Residents do not receive quality care due to understaffing. Receiving quality care is a resident's right. Federal regulations also says this. I have seen people neglected, talked to like dogs and of course the elderly aren't going to say too much for fear of ~retaliation~ YES! Retaliation does exist! It's not supposed to but it does! State goes and checks on this nursing home every so often but believe me, the facility knows approximately when this will occur and man do they hop to it and walk on eggshells! They hire more people for about a month until after inspection - then they let them go until the next inspection. This facility was even taking care of young kids at one time and had it's admissions shut down for 3 weeks because they did not have the proper training to enable them to care for these children. Taking care of children -vs-taking care of the elderly are two separate things. The requirements are drastically different. For example you do not give CPR to a child the same way you would an adult. CPR is a matter of life and death and this facility was jeopardizing the lives of these children. Since they have such a huge turnover of employees, most of them aren't even trained to do CPR on the adults, They would have to have classes EVERY day to keep up with the new employee training. The administration consists mostly of family working there. At one time the administrators husband was the social worker. The administrator's mother and son worked in the business dept. There was a cousin that lived in the facility. He's in a wheelchair and could get around so he spied on everyone and reported things he saw or heard. Divorce got rid of the social worker. He was the lucky one to get out of that not to mention getting away from the cold hearted woman administrator. The male ADON should be written up for being arrogant, a jerk, stupid and for sexual harrassment. He is very unprofessional. He married one of the CNA's and they even worked the same hours and hallway (which is against the rules) and she received special treatment. This is just a warning that if you know too much about the system then the administration will never like you because you know too much and they can't pull the wool over your eyes about everything. The administration becomes rude with you and will try every way they can to get you to move OR never let you return after a hospital visit. They will lie about not having available beds when it's time for you to return from the hospital. State finally got Meridian on that one and found out that one resident was being rejected on return even though they had 6 beds available - so they were caught in their lies. Medicaid should have cut them off right then and there! So this is just a BEWARE! Do not put your loved one in this nursing home facility. Not unless you don't mind them being neglected and verbally abused. One resident had bruises, etc... And the CNA's fessed up to me and said that a new employee had done this attack but the family was told she fell. Think about it before you make this type of move. I know most nursing homes have problems but I know FIRST HAND how Meridian Care runs and all it gets away with. Do not put your loved one in this place.
