Southern Hills assisted Living corporate profits come first - resident care is a distant second

Resident care is not a priority at southern hills assisted living. Management and the Patient Care Coordinator act annoyed when family members make any kind of a request. If they do anything extra, you can expect the resident's bill to rise by at least $375 per month. When my parent hit the wrong button on the TV, I asked if someone could put it on the right channel, the resonse from "patient care" was, "No. If we did it for her, we would have to do it for everyone." This is the prevailing attitude at this facility.

There are a few caring direct care staff but they never last more than a few months. The turnover must be around 85% in one year. Perhaps they treat their staff the way they treat their residents.

I moved my mother from this facility after she became so ill that she could not walk, eat or drink, and did not know where she was. (We rushed her to the hospital emergency ER) When I asked why no one noticed how ill she was, I was told they did not have the staff to check on residents and, if my mother was sick, it was HER responsibility to pull the call cord.

Another resident told me, "They don't do anything for us here." I strongly advise people NOT to place relatives that need any kind of assistance in this facility.
