I am writing this as a warning. I know that nothing can/will ever stop these people.
After having the new Paypal-Plus (GE Money Bankcard), a few months. A statement seemed to be full of problems so I called customer service and ended up "freezing the account". At that time I owed about $2,000. To them and the interest rate was already up to 22 % despite opening at zero 7-8 months earlier. I finally got a grasp on some of the problems but it took me awhile to figure out that I was always being charged $24. Fee's and $38. Penalties (as an example), no matter how frequent, I paid the monthly statement.in other words they played "musical" 23-28 day cycles each month. Don't bother trying to pay two weeks apart you still get ahead of the the penalties and fee's.
I quickly learned that this company hires the worst "customer service" phone people in the world. I am 50 years old. I have dealt with many people over the phone in my life and they seemed to hire only the rudest, most narcissistic people they could find unless you unfortunately spoke with someone from the Philippines, India or where ever. They simply can't be understood trying to speak English. I finally decided I had but one goal with this company and that was to get the bill paid off and to get away from them.
Well 15 months later they found a new way to spike my blood pressure. I began to receive calls at my home, or my wife or whoever would answer would have to deal with these rude, arrogant and crooked employees. They will tell whoever answers your phone that your basically a deadbeat and you need to get them their money and how do you want to pay them right this minute? When you try to point out that the payment is due on the first of the month and that month hasn't got here yet. They are not phased. They don't let facts or common sense stop them from doing their level best to harass you. They are so convincing that every one of their calls caused me and my wife to fight.
She couldn't believe they would be doing this to me if I had been paying them as I should. I got so aggravated and my house hold so upset I finally begged for a payoff the other day. Not that I had the money but I would be much better off borrowing it elsewhere. Now right here let me explain something that should serve to pain the picture of my issues with this criminal enterprise of an outfit. (this would be criminal if I did it anyway). Remember I owed $2,000. When I froze the card and cut up the card? Well 15 months later despite my having paid $100. To $150. Every month without fail.
At different times of the month maybe but within every single month I made a minimum $100. Payment. So, the fact that I now owed over $ 2,000.15 months later tells the story better than anything else. Despite those const6ant payment this is what I still owed these people. When I asked the lady about the payoff after discussing all this long enough for me to be as exasperated as I could possibly get she lectured me about "how I keep getting accruing additional fee's becuase I don't make my payments fast enough". You can't tell these people anything.
If you stay calm and reasonable they will ignore you and go into their deadbeat treatment and demand their payment right then no matter what. I could tell this interested this person so I said yes" I would be more than happy to pay them off how much"? She then began to lecture me about how if they agreed to something then I would need to get their money to them by the following Thursday or the whole amount would change and the deal would be off. I kept insisting so she put me on hold to get some sort of approval. Surprising me to the utmost she came back with a "settlement".
Basically if I paid $1,850.By the following Thursday, they would accept that as a complete payoff despite my owing about #250. Dollars more. She said that was my incentive to get the loan paid off. (I actually believe that I had complained to enough Government agencies etc. That I was getting to be a pain). Anyway, I sent the endorsed cashiers check the following Wednesday with the US Postal Service's guarantee that it would be there by noon the next day.
Now this should be the end of the story but actually it starts a new chapter. I have received a new statement reflecting my payment on the agreed upon date, but it shows that this had left my balance at $250. Since a day or two had occurred (5 actually), of course I had already incurred fees and penalties and now owe them $272.
Since this latest development I have began doing research online about this company.
If you Google this company online I can promise you that you will not read all the complaints such as mine or worse that are posted on the internet. I can't believe the number of people that they have screwed over and over. They do whatever they want. No-one can stop them. I have read about past class actions and I have also read of how they have actually won almost as many as they have lost somehow. They are crooked but its the kind of crooked that is allowed. They can say I owe them $25,000. Next week and I am powerless.
I actually don't know why they do not just do that. They don't even bother trying to cover up their blatant disregard for fairness or any rules you have aver came to expect from someone you have borrowed from in the past. My story is small compared to many I read but I cannot believe these people have hurt so many and just keep growing and stealing more from even more every day. What will it take? What can one person do? Nothing. There is not a lawyer good enough to take them on.
A politician clean enough with enough juice to intervene. They just get to keep on doing whatever. According to hundreds of others what will happen is I will stop paying because it simply will not matter. They are going to ruin my credit whether I pay them or not. I may as well not pay them. But, my family will still have to deal with the calls until we get a new phone number.
