I, too, am an educated woman (I'm a lawyer!), but fell for Greater Expectations fraudulent promises. My heart's desire is to find a mate and it is very hard to find appropriate candidates - They unconscionably misrepresent what their service provides, using their knowledge about people, mostly women, to get their money. Their sales people know that their service is crap but sale it anyway!
My sales person told me that they were different from other sites:
1. They did not allow members to simply not reply when chosen by other members. If someone did this more than twice, I was told that that person's membership would be cancelled without refund.
2. They knew how difficult it was for 40-something year old women, especially well-educated ones, because men tend to go for the 20-year old bimbettes - They assured me that they frequently spoke to their 40-something year old men who repeatedly chose 20-somethings and encouraged them to chose more age and life appropriate partners.
3. They also knew how emotionally draining it was to participate in these sites and if their staff, who was frequently monitoring members' activity, saw that I wasn't being very proactive or hadn't been chosen in a while, would call me to give you a pep talk, maybe work on tweaking my profile, and would suggest my name to appropriate male members.
4. I asked about their search capabilities, as the only thing available to search by was age - My sales person told me they were just in the process of updating the site and would have much more detailed search capabilities.
5. I was told that they insisted that all members updated their photographs every so that they could monitor them and make sure that they were an accurate, current representation.
Well, fast-forward 2 years and none of that stuff is true:
1. I have chosen a couple of people who just never replied - I waited a while to see if the office would do anything about it but they didn't. I finally called the office after 2-3 months and asked what was up - The person I spoke to was shocked that I was upset about this happening and did not know what I was talking about when I asked if the people had been, or would be, counseled.
2. I have been chosen twice in two years - If they are mentioning my name to anyone, they aren't doing a good job of it!
3. No one has ever called me from the office - Not even in reply to my repeatedly calls complaining about all of these things!
4. The only search capability is still by age - And, that does not even work. If I put 35-50 in there, I still get 20-somethings and 60-somethings!
5. I am approaching three years of membership and have never updated my photo. I was just so disgusted with the site by the end of the first year, I just never did it. Of course, no one has contacted me to insist that I do so. So, I assume they have never done so to any other member - If the photos are of real members!?
I finally filed a Better Business Bureau complaint yesterday - Not that they are a member, but I thought I'd give it a go. I was supplied with a direct email address to Robert Perkins, founder of GE [email protected]. I suggest everyone write him a little note.
I may not be successful in getting any money back, but I am making it one of my life missions to make these people's existence miserable - as they have made a portion of mine!
If anyone starts any legal action against this company, I would not only be willing to join as a plaintiff, but would be willing to provide legal assistance, as well.
Ladies, Good luck to all of you who have a story similar to mine! You deserve much better and I hope and pray that you find it!
