Scam 3rd party company

I looked up my local cable compay telephone number and called the 800 number and spoke to a rep. I told the rep that i was moving to a new address and needed to transfer my service. The rep asked me several questions about my account as well as my new address etc.

At the time i thought it was strange because if this was in fact my cable company why could they not just look up my account without me giving my information? However, this is a new construction and i have paid so many fees and unexpected charges and since my property did not currently have any cable wires, outside receivers etc. I thought nothing of it. I even asked the rep "IS THIS BRIGHTHOUSE CABLE" and he said yes this is brighthouse.

I gave them my new address, phone, date i wanted the service off at the old address, date i wanted my new service on, etc.

At that time the rep told me there would be a $9.99 fee so i gave him my credit card number and he gave me a date to turn on my service, a confirmation number and asked me if i wanted any other services.

Later that day i passed by my local bright house office and remembered that i needed another cable box as i have an extra bedroom in my new house so i went in. To my surprise not only did they have no idea what i was talking about they looked up my account and they never charged me any fee. Nor did they speak to me earlier???

So i looked in my phone for the number i dialed and called them back only to be placed on hold. A rep came on the line and i explained the situation to her and she gave me another 800 number to call i called that number and it was disconnected? Then i called back and was given another number and it was a t&t and they had no idea what i was talking about. I called back yet again and was given yet another number to call. I got no where so i called my bank. I had to end up cancelling my credit card and disputed the charge and the bank told me the company was a scam and to be careful because they could charge my card other fees without my knowledge ad the only way to be sue that would not happen was to cancel my card. This in turn caused another snowball of problems for me as i have other bills and things attached to my old card and had to contact all my other businesses.

I looked up the emal they had the nerve to send me with an email with the order confirmation number and the charging information and it had another 800 number to call if the order was not correct or if i needed to make any changes that number was to a car dealership?

Again I called the company and went off on them and was told that all supervisors were in a "meeting" and they would have someone call me?

This is not about the mere $9.99 fee. This is about a company misrepresenting my cable company when i asked twice if they were brighthouse and they said yes! Then they keep me on hold give me bogus 800 number and are ripping people off. I do not need a 3rd party to call my cable compay for me much less charge me $9.99 for something i can do myself.

If i had not of asked them if the were Brighthouse Cable i would let this go and if in fact this was a legitimate company they would have let me speak to a supervisor or directed me to billing or tried to do something to correct this problem. All the bogus 800 numbers really raised red flags about this company.
Do not go to homes.org and when you call your local utilities make sure they are who they say the are.
