I too was stopped by the "secret police" at FT. Lewis Wa AAFES, they ASSUMED that i switched tags on their merchandise, "clothes", they too pulled me over, and took me to the back.
They gave me a FULL REFUND on the merchandise that i bought. I gave my statement. They called the MP"s " military police" they kept me for about 3to4 hours.
They let me go, charged me with the $200, the case lasted for a YEAR! And TWO days untill my TRIAL, they DISMISSED the case, LACK of EVIDENCE..
The Security people are NOT secret cops, the person that pulled me to the side, was fired, because they did not do their job right. They ASSUMEDthat i did it, but had no proof. You can't charge someone over an ASSUMPTION!
Now i have " charged with theft " but " case dismissed " on my record, and i can't take it off of my record. My case lasted for a year, i can't go shopping without thinking that i'm doing something wrong..
My case was dismissed on jan so now i'm looking for an attorney to file a "lawsuit" againts AAFES. They did not do their job right, put me through all that agony. If that wasn't bad enough my husband was in Iraq, serving our country, and i have 2 little kids..
So if anyone knows a good attorney, or if you are one, and intrested in helping me, please do. And it's not AAFES, who takes you to court, it's the UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT!
