We were led to this breeder by a friend in our town. The Crockers live 3 and a half hours away, but are the only breeders of Coton de Tulear close enough not to ship by air.
Although the reference did not have a particular problem with the Crocker's, she did indicate that they were hard to deal with.
After several conversations and email correspondences, we agreed upon a male for $1500, and I forwarded a deposit of $500 on June 11 for a puppy available on July 12. July 12 came and went, with no success at contacting the dealer and no word as to when we'd recieve the puppy.
We finally heard from Lisa Crocker on August 22, almost a month and a half after we were due the puppy, and she accused me of not being in contact, so she gave our puppy away. I think she oversubscribes every litter and deals them out on a first come or convenience basis, whatever.
After two more weeks of no contact, I had a business appointment in Binghamton, NY on September 4, so I paid a visit to the address on the contract. There was no one living there, so I went to the address I mailed the check to. If not for that, I may never have gotten my dog.
The dog is perfect, but the conditions at the house were deplorable! If there was ever a picture for a "puppy mill" it was just that! I would not recommend the dealer, but the breed is marvelous!
