Misled about delivery time of $1,200.00 purchase

On Saturady, December 13 I purchased a $1,200.00 Elliptical from the Sears Store in Athens, Georgia for my wifes Christmas present the person that sold me the item seemed to be helpful and set a delivery and insulation time to put the elliptical together at 5:00pm on Friday, December 19 which was great because we wouldn't have to miss work and could make my grandsons 7th birthday party. What I was not told was that the installer would not put it together till the next day on Saturday the 14th untill I received a call from the installer to set a time on saturday which I didn't mind.

I left work earily which is hard to do sence I'm a Police Officer and Lieutenant over the Road Division, I arrived home on friday the 13th at 4:35pm and when I heared a message on my answer mechine that the delivery people had came around in at 3:45pm. And left. I called the toll free number 1-800-732-7747 given me on the message at 4:50pm.

Needless to say everything went down hill from there. I explained the situation to the person I was talking to, and he told me that the delivery truck was in Winterville, Georgia making a delivery and was only 15 mins. Away from my home and he would call them and have them come back to my and make the delivery, and if they hadn't arrived in a hour I was to call back.

At 6:00pm I called the toll free number back to advise them that the delivery truck had not arrived back at my house and talked to a driffent person who told me something entirely driffent they the first person I talked to. The secound person even told me that I wouldn't receive my purchase till Friday, December 26 the day after Christmas. I then asked to talk to a supervisor, and was put on hold for aleast 10mins. The person I then talked to was not a supervisor, and I was told by him that I needed to call the store where I had made my purchase.

I then called the Sears store in Athens, Georgia where I had made my purchase and it even got worst from there. When I asked to speak to the store manger, I was hung up on countless of times. When I was finely able to talk to a very nice lady (I whised I had gotten her name) I told her of my ordeal. This lady was very understanding and went personally, and got the store manger (Walter) for me to talk to. I had to explained to him of my ordeal, I even told him that I would take the Elliptical that was on display and even pick it up myself. He told me he would see what he could do and to give him 15mins. And he would call me back. Which he did, and he was able to make arrangements for the installer to pick up the Elliptical bring it to my home and put it togeather the next day.

My wife and I have shopped at Sears for 29 years and have bought all of are of major appliances and etc. From Sears. But this has left a very bad taste in my mouth, I feel that being hung up on put on hold was away in hopes that I would give up and not pursue the matter. Not only did I have to miss my grandsons 7th birthday party which is very dear to me at my age, I almost didn't have my wifes Christmas present in time as promised. I hope that this complaint does not go unheard in hopes that this does not happen to another Sears customer.

And I am considering sending my ordeal Sears to the news media.in hopes that Sears customers beware for what is instore for them if they have to file a complaint, Talk to the store manger, or get any kind of help.

If I don't receive a response to my complaint that's alright I'll just consider it another way that Sears don't care about there customers.
