A Friend suggested that I download SKYPE, a "free" internet based messeging service, that also uses the internet for video/phone messeging based on a credit limit you pay for in advance.
I went to the site and provided information for the messaging service, but then found that it was not compatible with my webcam, and had such difficulty navigating their website, that I gave up in frustration and removed all associations and programs that had anything to do with this silly outfit.
Then I noticed an unauthorized charge on my FIA credit card... For 18 bux. I called and was told that it had been authorized by Skype. Guess what? I Never, Ever provided a credit card number to them. Repeated attempts to contact them went to no avail as you have to be registered to their site in order to make contact. They have No phone, they have some bizarre address in Luxembourg, and they are a subsidiery of ebay.
I am having difficulty with FIA cuz they apparently have no fraud or consumer complaint division. See complaint on FIA card services. I have filed a complaint with Oregon State, and that isn't going anywhere either because of the difficulty in locating any human being for a response. I have no idea how they got my number but I can say with certainty, that I did NOT divulge this information. Skype is a ripoff for sure. If they did it to me, imagine what a million time 18 is.
