We started to contact Aurora about possibly not making our payment back in December of last year, and they finally sent us paper work for a note modification around May. We turned everything in an missed our payment in July. They were not willing to work with us unless we were behind in payments, but when we were finally behind, and after we turned in the paper work for the note modification, they never contacted us. For almost three months we could not get a response from them. Finally they told us no one was assigned to our file. Then they sent us a letter a week after saying they denied our application because we did not make enough money to qualify for a note modification. I don't understand this because we would not be asking for a note modification if we did make enough money for our mortgage. So then my husband found out that they came to this conclusion through a formula that made absolutely no sense because you would have to make they same amount of money as you did when you could keep up with your mortgage. We continued to try to get them to work with us, but they wouldn't. Our house will be auctioned off on January 5th, and we contacted them again asking if they would work with us. The lady on the phone said she does not see why they cannot work something out. Then she said we would have to pay three months of normal payments and then they would consider working with us on a note modification, which is a load of crap. On top of this all, isn't it illegal for them to foreclose on our house if they no longer hold the lein since they filed bankruptcy in September? If anyone has found a way to get these money grubbers to work with them, let me know, but I am pretty sure it is too late for us.
