Originally I tried to get an appointment with a specific doctor in the New York offices of Memorial SLoan kettering and was told that I would need to collect extensive records before someone would even give me an appointment. While procuring those records, I discovered that there is a branch of the cancer center closer to my home, when I called them, they said that I would be able to get a faster appointment with a physician there but I needed to collect the records before I came to see the doctor. So, I took that appointment and delivered the documents to the hospital 7 days before my appointment. As I still needed the appointment with the specialist in the city, I called back and was very rudely informed that Memorial only gives one appointment per person and that I would not be allowed to see another physician at the hospital also it was suggested that the Dr that I was seeing was the only person who may be able to get me an appointment with the right DR.
Upon meeting with the oncologist closer to my home, It was made very clear that the Dr. Did not even look at the records that I gathered and the most important biopsy slide that I provided wasn't even forwarded to Memorials pathology department. This, after several of the staff at the hospital commented on how complete and well organized the records were! When I discussed with the local Dr, the problem I was having with seeing another physician in the city he agreed that I did need to see someone in the city and maybe he could help. It has been two weeks with my cancer levels steadily rising with no help in sight.
It seems evident to me that Memorial really doesn't care about patients, only their own systems. As their ads state "Where you are treated first can make all the difference" but what is not said, "If you are not treated here first, or you have a cancer that is further along, don't bother us!"
