Complaint / Review
Avondale Mitsubishi
Approved or not approved

Contacted company on line to purchase a vehicle. Explained quite clearly that I would not make the 3 hour round trip to their location if I was not approved prior. I was reassured that my financing was in place and I was definetly approved so I made the trip.

After being at the dealership for approximately 5 hours, I signed the papers for the car I wanted, turned the keys of my trade in over and left. During the final process of signing all the required papers, I once again stated that I was leaving with the knowledge that the new vehicle was indeed mine and that I would not receive a call from them stating that the financing did not go through after all. They told me that it would not happen because I had already been approved.

When I tried to have them put my current plates on the new vehicle, I was told that they couldn't do that because the report from the MVD was saying that I was not the sole owner of the plate regardless of the fact that I am the only owner of the car. I took my old plate with me and left.

Three weeks after the fact, I called the dealership to find out why my down payment check hadn't been cashed. They said that they had been trying to reach me and that they needed the car back because the financing did not go through afterall. They then said that they had other options they wanted to try to get me in another vehicle or for me to be able to keep the one I already had. This went on for almost another week. Daily we would talk, several times a day even, and during one phone call they would say that I was approved and then they would call back and say that I wasn't.

After several days of this aggravation, I told them to just bring my car back to me and pick theirs up. When they brought my car back, I had explained my problem with the license plate and asked them to provide a temporary tag or something because I had cancelled my plate when they told me that it wasn't any good. They brought the car back, took the dealer plate off and I was told that I could print out a 3 day tag so I would be able to drive to the MVD to get another plate. Since I don't have a printer at home, I had to drive to work; approximately 10 miles; and print out a tag all the time hoping that I would not get pulled over for no tags.

The following day I went to the MVD to explain to them what had happened and learned that because I had cancelled the plates I would have to re-register my car which cost me $90.00. The whole experience with this dealership was beyond aggravating. I don't think that car dealers should be allowed to do this to customers. Either you're approved or not, don't put people through all the aggravation for nothing.
