Bank Of America
Closed my account for false reasons. Won't refund my money

In August of I received money from my wedding as gifts. I deposited my money into a checking account of a financial institution (which I will call "Bank X"). For my own reasons, I wanted to transfer my money from my Bank X account into my Bank of America checking account. I was leaving for my honeymoon on a Monday so the Sunday before, I wrote a check to myself from "Bank X" to Bank of America and made a deposit via the ATM.

So far, I didn't think that I had done anything wrong. That Monday afternoon, I arrived in another country and over the course of the next few days, I waited for my money to clear and when I checked my account via the internet, I was informed that my money was being held and investigated. My Debit card was taken from me in the ATM machine and I was told that my card was reported lost or stolen.

When I called to speak to a represtentative, they told me that my money was being investigated because the check that I wrote of $5,500.00 was an unusually large amount for me to deposit via the ATM. That, I understood. However, she told me that my money was gonna be released once it fully clears. I called "Bank X" and their reps told me that my check cleared and that Bank of America had my money.

When I arrived back in the U.S., I called B of A and was told that my account was pending closure because the check that I wrote was from a "closed" account. How could that possibly be if I called "Bank X" and explained them my situation, and they assured me that they could show proof that my account has always been in good standing?

In any case, I was so frustrated with B of A, (Especially since I had just opened this account with them) that I really, just wanted my money and didn't care if the account was closed. They told me that my money was being reviewed and held by the "compliance" department and that my money would be sent to me in the mail in the form of a check.

After many many many phone conversations with several representatives from their account closure department, the only process being taken is that: an email has to be sent to the supervisors at the compliance department and once they reply to this email, further actions can be taken to send me my money. For the record, I have had the account closures dept. Send 5 emails thus far and none have been responded to.

Todays date is Monday Nov. 3rd. I will continue to call everyday and have them send their "daily" email for me because, I need my money. Each time I call, I get the same response: "Sir, I understand your inconveniece, and I do apologize, however the only thing we can do right now, sir, is to send this email again and we should get (hopefully) a response withing 24 hours." And when I ask if there is someone else I can speak to, they say: "No, sir, Unfortunately this has to be handle via email only and there is no phone number for you to call."

To me that sounds wrong. I don't think it's right that they won't respond to these "emails". Unless, it's all lies and they are just making excuses and avoiding having to send me my check. There's gotta be a way for me to get my money! I can't begin to explain how much this angers me.
