My husband and I went to Mr. Farah looking for legal ccounsel on a tenant eviction matter. We met with him in his office on only ONE occasion. He did advise us as to what steps needed to be taken, what the cost would be and as to whether we needed his services to do this or to handle the matter ourselves. We decided to have him start the proceedings by serving our tenants with an "end of tenancy" letter from a retired officer whom he paid $50.
He advised us that for $200 he would take care of this service and for us to prepare a list of damages to submit to Monroe County Court for a judgement claim against our tenants. He also sated that once the tenants were evicted that he would be asking us for a percentage of the judgement claim against the tenants.
Well this was pretty much the end of any serivce provided by him. My husband and I phoned him on numerous occassions to discuss the next steps in our complaint, never actually reaching him, getting answering machines or voice mails. We contacted his office as well as his cell phone with no luck. No return phone calls, which went on for about a month. Finally we found out that our claim against our tenants was never filed in Monroe County Court.
During the month of no contact we had faxed our list of damages for him to file the judgement claim. Eventaually we had left a message with him saying " return our paperwork and info on the case as we were terminating him as our representative. Within a week our paperwork was returned, no receipt for services (as I had requested when we terminated him) only a paper showing that a man was paid $50 for serving an eviction notice to our tenants. No judgenmet claim had been filed and basically the only thing he accomplished was seriving this request to our tenants.
Since that time I filed a claim with the attorney grievancer committee in Michigan. After each of us had our turn at respponding to my complaint. A fabricated receipt was submitted to the commitee (which was never returned to me with our paperwork) and a made up story to them about how if he refunded our money that we would have been supplied services from him for free. Well of course the committee found no wrong doing on the part of Mr. Farah and dropped the investigation. Now I am here to let anyone who is interested know that he is a liar as well as a cheat, and not to trust this man with any important matters.
