AKAs I sent this party $2,250 do work on my new home, he cash the check. I have proof

I sent this party above $2,250 to do work on my new home. I sent it in december. I cannot contact him he has change his phone nunber and will not answer to small claim court in dallas county which is located in selma, alabama. He has received the notice, but will not response. What am i do to i am retire, and don't have the money to let go like that. Please help.
