I allowed a demonstration of a vacuum cleaner in my home. I was initially satisfied with the demonstration, because i was dazzled by the gadgets. Ii was given a deferred billing, to commence 2-3 months later. I was told I would get the contract in the mail. Before I could make the first payment the vacuum cleaner failed to work. I had no number other than the billing statements.
I sent in my payment anyway, but informed the clerk, manager, and anyone that would listen that I need either a new vacuum cleaner or a stop payment. This back and forth went on for almost a year. The last conversation I had with the manager of beneficial, he told me they have no access to the original seller, they give the money to rainbow and then I have to pay them back.
I asked him to check my records and he would see this has gone on too long and I would not pay anymore. I was told they would help me get my account setteled. The nextphone call I recieved was from a very nasty bill collector who informed me, " that's the chance you take as a consumer, some times you get ripped off", and he let me know they were going to pursue me for the $1600.00 although I told them from the beginning of the service come and get the machine.
