Overnight Phone Not Delivered, Driver Claimed Nobody Was Home

I just wanted all future consumers to know that FedEx is a rip-off. I purchased a phone from Verizon Wireless, and it was sent via overnight express. I was told it would arrive between 12pm and 3pm the next day because my previous phone service was transferred to this new phone.

Well, the lazy driver came to my home, never got out of the truck and reported that he could not deliver the package because there was not anyone home. This was a complete lie. I never left my home because I was waiting for the package to arrive. After calling the customer service center, I was told that he did not deliver the package because he saw a dog on my porch. I do not have a dog, and I do not believe that he saw one either. He then drove the package all the way back across town and dropped it off at his service center.

The customer service representative instructed the dispatch to have the driver redeliver the package, and she told me I should receive it before 3pm (noting that I work inside San Antonio but do not live there, which is a 30 mile drive without my cell phone, the purpose of it being overnighted). Then I got a phone call from the local office telling me they were not going to deliver the package because the driver had already driven 20 miles back to their service center and dropped it off, and they did not have any available drivers to bring it back to me. If I wanted it that day, I had to get into my car and drive 20 miles to them and pick it up, although I had paid for it to be delivered to me by express service.

I spoke to the resolution team, and they were so sorry but could not resolve this issue. I would just have to wait or drive out there on my own gas ($3.86 a gallon x 20 miles = $7, on top of the $10 charge for the package to be expressed to me). This is how they treat their paying customers. So to all those who want to have a package delivered next day or express next day, use UPS or USPS. FedEx does not care about their customers and has yet to reimburse me the costs they profited from for doing absolutely nothing.
