Paying more than originally told

I had gone to Right Way to get a car because they said they could work with bad credit. So I went there and they called me and told me i was approved with $300 down. Then I told them that I had my truck to use as a down payment. They said that was fine. When I went back in with my truck they said they could give me only $500 for it but still needed the $300 down. I test drove a 1999 Ford Escort SE and ended up purchasing it.

I was told my payment was $133 a month and my first payment was due that Friday. So I paid it and then two weeks later I was called saying I was late on my payment and that is when I was told my payments were due bi-weekly.

I was doing fine and the medical office that I worked at had suddenly closed in September. As soon as I left I had called them to let them know that I needed them to work with me and they did. But in December, I had called in my payment on Friday as I had in the past. They for some reason didn't process the payment. I got up Tuesday morning to having no car in my driveway. I immediately called them to find out what happened. They said I was behind in payments and hadn't heard from me.

I told them that I had called in the payment on Friday. They in turn said they looked it up and said it was a mistake on their end. But I still needed $650 to get my car back because they had added the repo fee to my account. So I ended up paying it because I didn't want to loose my job. Then when I called in my payment they informed me that my payment is now $140 bi-weekly, because of the interest.

Now I was originally told that my loan was for $6000 and it would be paid off in two years. But that isn't true either, because I went to another dealership to see if I could roll over my loan from this car and get into another vehicle. When the dealer ask Gateway my payoff amount they told him $5284. Which doesn't add up when i have been paying on for over a year. I thought I only had 10 months left to pay on this car.in the end, I couldn't get approved for the new vehicle.

When I contact Gateway about my payoff amount I just keep getting sent to different representatives and then disconnected. But I have no choice but to try and get this paid off so it doesn't ruin my credit.
