Community Reading Club, Redondo Beach, & More They obtained our financial records and proceeded to bill us-we did not order from them. This has been going on for over two years. This is one out of about 10 magazine companies. Wouldn't cancel acct

Several years ago I signed with a magazine company over the phone and didn't get their name. The next night I received a call from a magazine company that said they just talked to me last night and I had to repeat all the information I gave them. On the 3rd night they said the same thing; I was very suspicious. I found out that they were different magazine companies and somehow after being contacted by up to 10 different companies, it was obvious they were passing the tape around to other magazine companies because they all said they had me on tape.

Much later I found out that when they updated our information they started a "new" account without our knowledge. I finally refused to talk with them and let my husband talk to them. When I would ask them for my balance - they said anywhere from $600 to $1200 and wouldn't let me cancel the service. A couple of the magazine companies let us "pay them off" and some of the magazines slowly went away.

They have debited our bank account without permission for years and I tried to get the bank to help me. They suggested that we file a report and change bank accounts. We are on a fixed income and cannot afford to go on like this.

Because we value our credit, we have tried to pay all of the different companies so that we wouldn't worry about our credit. Some of the companies that let us "pay them off' are now calling again saying we have another account with them. They are thieves, have unfair business tactics, and I think they should be prosecuted for mail fraud also.
