About three weeks ago the number 877-891-9212 began showing up on my cell phone. When I would answer they would either say, "Goodbye" or ask for my son by name. They would say if you are "His name" please select #1. I didn't because I am not him. He is in Iraq serving with the Army National Guard at this time. The calls began to come in at least once an hour every hour with the same procedure. I finally pushed #1 and they said they were calling for my son.
I told them that he is in Iraq and they said, "Oh." I asked if I could help with something and they said, "No, we need to talk to either him or S." I told them I was no longer married to S and gave them his phone number. They then hung up. They talked to S and he told them again our son is in Iraq and they told him they could not talk to him about the matter either but that it involved a school loan he had in 2004 when he was beginning college.
But they could not give him any information. They said our son could call them but that was the only way this problem could be solved. We have both explained that that is not possible. We have never gotten anything in writing from this company alerting us to a problem which I thought we should have gotten. This could be taken care of by giving information to the Education Officer with the National Guard but we cannot get any information other than this number to give them. They will not talk to the Guard either.
I have given the number to my son who has given it to his commander in Iraq but they can not talk to the people either. Since these conversations my phone continues to ring at least five times a day with this number. When I answer I get the same response and the refusal to talk to me about anything. I cannot believe it is this hard for anyone to understand that we have a soldier fighting in Iraq and they are not willing to work with us to solve this.
I find this completely inexcusable and the people are very rude. If htis company wants money they need to talk to me or to the United States Army National Guard&that's pretty simple. It is wrong that a soldier could be penalized for something he has no control over.
