National Marketing
Slave labors / SCAM!

About a week ago i was looking for a job in the denverpost classifieds and came across an add regarding administrative help and managment. No experience nec. Will train. So, i called the add and they asked me to come in the following day for an interview. Naturally, i was exited as well as thrilled i had landed an interview so fast. So i went in the next day dressed to impress in my buisness atire. They were located in a buisness park not to far from where i lived and i knew the area very well.

Anyway, i walked into their office and noticed there was nothing in the entire office but a receptionist desk and about 30 folding chairs in another room of the office. There was no company name on the door, nothing on the walls, etc. Well, right away i was sceptical but proceeded anyway with the interview. They sat me down in another empty room of the office and handed me a sheet of paper. Basically asking me to list 3 prior jobs, 3 refrences etc not a normal application by far. Then a man named Neil (if that was his real name) sat me down and explained to me that this was an advertising company for perfume, and he was looking to hire entry level managers with no experience required. Right away, i got exited.

I thought what a great job opportunity, finally a chance to prove myself! Not once though did he mention the name of the company or any vital information most employers would explain. I was set up with a 2nd interview that folowing mon. When i returned that mon. I found myself in a room with about 30 other people including myself and i thought it was a little weird but again went with it. For about 2 1/2 hrs. We all sat there taking notes about the company which i found out was called "national marketing" and i was told the training phase was $4OO Wk. And 13 weeks of training before i could move up to manager and have to run my own office.

Well, the next day i went, i sat through another 3 hr seminar and was sent home with perfume bottles to try to sell to friends and family for a so called contest they were doing. Are motivation was a $500 bonus to the winner. That was a red flag for me considering i was told this was NOT a sales job.

So i started really questioning it. Anyway like a dumb ass i go back the next day with intensions of asking "neil" or "terry burton" (another manager) if this was paid training considering i never filled out a w4 or even had to give them my i. D or ss#. I was told it was all commission for 13 weeks and after that it was weekly base pay.

Then they had me out on a route with a trainer soliciting knock off perfume to buisness. (in 100 degree heat non the less) right away i was convinced this was a scam. That night i deceided not to go back and do some research.

Thats when i came across this web site. Found that these same people, terry burton, dan long, etc have been scamming other towns and states for a while and they re-locate constantly to avoid any investigations. I hope this helps someone out there not fall for this scam, its unbelievable what people will do for a buck!!!
