I have lived in and around Atlanta for about 5 years now and have been on some pretty crazy interviews, but this one takes the cake.
I saw the National Art Association was hiring, they seemed pretty legit and I wanted a career change, so I decided to give them a try.
The first interview lasts about 10 minutes, just long enough so they can figure out if you're a nut job or not. Then if you seem half-way decent they invite you on a second interview. The next day you come in and they send you out with one of their employees from 9am-5pm.
At first, I thought this was pretty sweet since most businesses don't take the time to show you what a typical day would be like, but once I got in the car with this girl, I knew I was in for a crazy day. Sidenote—to all the women out there— They have only 2 girls working for the company, I thought it was pretty odd and sucky for all the guys.
This girl packed her car full of cheap art and we drove around doing door-to-door and business-to-business sales. The whole time she kept telling me how I was going to make a ton of money, telling me that I'll do well since people respond to men even better than women.
She sold at the most 5-7 paintings, had to split the profit in half and that was her income for the day. Oh, and she did NOT pay for lunch, be prepared for that.
Also, be prepared for this sh*y test you have to take at the end of your 2nd sh*y interview. After the test, I left their sh*y unmarked office and was happy to return to my job as a waiter.
