Another Marketing Scam

I recently moved to the Chicago area and being fresh out of the college scene decided to try the full time job thing out to see how it went. After interviewing and having no such luck at several places I was contacted by Taylormade Promotionz. I arrived at the interview, where many other people were waiting... So i took a number... This was extremely unusual. After waiting about an hour after my interview was scheduled for I met with Billy. Billy seemed like a pretty cool, smooth talking guy. Thats exactly what Billy was smooth and FAST talking. I had obviously come into the intervew extremely prepared but my questions were shot down very quickly and I was pretty much told I had made it to the second round of interviews, however, Billy had to be "fair" and interview the remainders.

A few days later, Billy had actually pulled through for me and I was offered a second interview, which was an all day field ride with an "event coordinator." I went into the day super excited and ready to take the job. The two girls I went out with were amazing, had great personalities and were more or less just like me.

When we arrived at the "event" we pulled out a table and set up DARE signs in front of a local Dominicks grocery store. I thought wow, this is not what I expected at all and this was not in the job description. However, i managed to hold out all day thinking it was for a good cause.

Much to my dismay, the whole thing was a scam. I was told the most ridiculous things about the position, like that I would be reimbursed for gas once a year, that there was no salary but that Billy would guarantee I made at least $400 a week, that i would be working 12 hour days not 5 but 6 days a week and that if I was offered the job I had to start the day I accepted it. The word BOGUS was running through my head the rest of the day.

When we got back to the office I had to take a joke of a test to see if I was "one of the few" qualified to come back for a third interview. I "passed" the test and was offered a third interview for the following morning. I'm a pretty polite person so I told the girl I would come to the third interview. She then proceeded to tell me that I would most likely be offered the job on the spot tomorrow morning and that I should be prepared to sign and start tomorrow.

I went home that night and decided I needed to do some serious searching on the internet. I came across really bad things about this "company" and why I should not work for them. I immediately knew that I wasn't going to the third interview.

I decided to be nice and call Billy in the morning because it was the polite thing to do. After I told him I was no longer interested he immediately responded with "well you haven't been offered the position yet, how do you know we were even going to hire you?" I told him I was sorry and I just wanted to find a job with shorter hours. He then said that he knew my boyfriend had influenced my decision, that I was an idiot because I would be making six figures in no time, and that I wasn't going to find another job because nobody in chicago was hiring, and then he hung up on me. I thought to myself, "Really Billy, nobody in the entire chicagoland area is hiring? HMMMmmm thats interesting.

I was super happy that I didn't accept this job because I wouldn't ever want to work for a lying, sleezy, non-legitimate company such as this one. End of story.

Oh and by the way Billy, someone in the chicago area was hiring, and they are a publicly traded company on the Nasdeq, meaning they are a stable, legitimate company. I'm sure thats way over your head... Good luck with that "six digit salary" of yours...
