I contracted wirth Mr. Wagner, owner of Diamond in the Rough to install two bathroom vanities, replace one toilet, repair tile in stall shower for the total sum of $3,900 in Oct. gave a $2000 deposit.
The work began in Jan. 2006. The tile in the stall shower had to be removed due to mold, therefore, walls and new tile was installed along with a new shower door. He also installed a new vent system in each bathroom.
When he was finally done in March 07 I was given a bill for $21,300. I have since learned Maryland required permits for plumbing and electrical work which were never applied for.
I have since found out the contractor did not have a plumbing or electrical license. I have had the electrical work redone to meet the standards required by Ocean City which has been additional expense to me.
I never signed a change order during the renovation process nor was I aware of the dramatic increase in the cost. I paid him $10,000 and took him to court. Buyer be ware.
