As my large master bedroom remodeling project came to a close i needed to get the carpet for the room and the tile for my new walk in shower. My contractor who was a one man show said that he could install the tile but it would take a long time and suggested that who ever i bought the tile and carpet from would have installers do it for me. He preped the shower with everything that was needed and it was ready for the them to install the tile and float the shower floor.
I met with a real nice lady at the floor store and we picked the carpet and tile and had it scheduled to be installed 3 weeks before thanksgiving. I asked to have the tile put in first to keep the carpet from getting trampled on by the installers. The tile i chose were mosaic sheets because most of it was going in my shower. They missed the install date by 1 week but that was still time.
They put the shower floor in and let it dry and then installed the tile on the walls and bath room floor and said they would be back the next day to put the tile on the shower floor. When i got home and saw the work i was a little conerned. Each of the mosaic sheets were a little crooked and you could see where each sq ft sheet started and ended. I also noticed that there were some sheets that weren't the same color and they stuck out. To make it worse they didn't bother to spread them out but stuck most right next to each other which made it look worse.
To keep it short they sent a guy out and he only removed the tile on the bathroom floor and replaced it with the remaining tile. It didn't really look any better and i said that the shower walls still looked horrible. They said that they had to order the tile again because there wasn't enough.
The tile arrived a week before thanksgiving and they sent one guy out to tear the tile off the wall and floor i came home from lunch and he wasn't there and only sections of the tile had been removed. I think he removed only the tiles that he thought were crooked. The only problem with that is they ordered a new set of tile and each new set is never the same color, so i called the foremen and told him that it would be worthless unless it was all removed and redone, and that they need to send more than one guy, and i asked him to send someone that spoke english cause the guys working there didn't seem to understand what i was saying. Finally the day before thanksgiving they finished up and left.
In the mean time i had my carpet installed anyway so i could have a place to have thanksgiving. We piled as much junk as we could in the bathroom and threw our entire house back together that night and got ready for family to come in. I still had no use of the bathroom since i didn't have time to install all the fixtures and toilet and glass. Once the holiday was over and i was able to move everything out of the bathroom i called my contractor over to finish putting the bathroom back together. He gave an oked glance at the tile work and said that it was done poorly but looked like it would hold. He then asked if i had checked the slope of the showere to see if it would drain. I had not. We poored water on the floor and sure enough i did not drain. Sorry so long.
The next guys to come out told me that they didn't even work for the company but that they were brothers of the guy that worked there. They admitted that it was a poor tile job and said that they would fix it all. They damaged every thing, destroyed all the hardy backer plastic and bladder that my contractor had put in and they demolished the shower curb that my contractor put in as well. They actually knocked out each end of the curb. Why? I have no idea.
That was it i asked for refund and the cost of all the damages that they cause and to pay my contractor again to fix was they destroyed. It took me 3 months to get the charge of my account and they offered me $100 for my trouble. The repairs alone were $875. The $100 was only offered to me they didn't actually give it to me. All i got was a bunch of ladies in the office saying how sorry for the inconvience and that they wanted to fix the problem. But they did nothing.
I originally wanted to meet with the owner to establish a relationship since i own a carpet cleaning business. Through this whole process i never heard once from the owner, and now when people ask me where to get carpet i only recommend where not to get carpet or tile and that is the floor store.
There is only one business establishment that i feel so strongly about and i have had horrible service many places, but i always consider each situation individually, but the floor store is the only place that i would consider shutting their doors for them.
