Our English Bulldog was fake Queens, New York

My husband and I feel so dumb for not reading the signs: When we went to see Robin's English Bulldog puppies we should have turned around and ran the other way. We pulled up in a very high class neighborhood in front of a private home, and after ringing the bell, Robin told us that the puppies were not available for viewing yet. Within minutes, a trailer pulled up with midwest plates, and two men began bringing crates into the home. We peeked into the trailer before going inside the house and saw yorkies, english bulls, sharpays, and bichons. Robin's demeanor was not that of an animal lover, and there was a man there who was driving a bentley who was barking orders at her. There were security cameras in the home and things just did not seem right.

Within a few minutes, we were inside the home and fell in love with a male puppy who we named Brody and took him home to begin a journey of heartache, a tremendous amount of wasted money and a very sad departure. Brody was a cute little puppy and everything seemed pretty normal until the first visit to the vet when she mentioned that he was very tall for an english bully. As he got a little older (a month or so) Brody's aggression level was rising and I became very concerned because my two year daughter loved to roll around the floor with him and put her face close to his.

Let's fast forward a few months to Brody being about nine months old. The older Brody got, the less he looked like a bully. He had not one wrinkle, he was very tall, the only bully charateristic that he had was his corkscrew tail. He had the face of a pitbull and bully combined, and his demeanor was that of a sterotypical bull. He was very aggressive, growled at people who came to the door, would go bananas when any other dog crossed his path, and it really took the cake when the vet said that he was one of the most hyper dogs that she had examined.

We emailed Robin pictures of Brody to express our concern about Brody. We could not control him, had to lock him up whenever we had company because people were terrified of him, and we had spent a ton of money on all types of repairs of things that he destroyed. Robin wrote back "what happened to his wrinkles?" she guaranteed that Brody was AKC full bred English Bulldog and that a DNA test was the only thing that would put an end to our suspicion that he was not a full english bull.

My husband and I were thrilled, as we were at our wits end with Brody and I was now expecting our second child and felt that we should either be compensated, or we should be able to get another puppy. Once we agreed that we wanted to go through with the DNA testing, she informed us that we would have to finance the testing and that the cost was almost $1,000. There was just no way that we would spend that type of money to confirm what we already knew, that he was not a full breed dog.

Not when we were not sure what that would mean as far as reimbursement for the amount that we had paid for Brody. Right after that, my husband became angry because she stopped returning calls and her whole tone with us had changed drastically. She became nasty with my husband and threatened that her attorney husband would be contacting us if we did not leave her alone.

By the time my son was born, Brody was a year old and when he stood on his hind legs, his front paws were chest level to a six foot man. We had to get rid of Brody so we put an ad on Craigslist to find him a good family. The only problem was, my conscious would not allow me to send him to a good home with children, as I knew that the reality was that Brody was not mentally well. He had a temperment that NOBODY was able to control.

He rode off in the pickup truck belonging to a Cane Corso breeder (Italian Mastiffs) who thought he could make Brody his "house dog" as Brody was small in size compared to the extra large Mastiffs. Brody lasted there about a month until he was shipped off to a bulldog rescue down south somewhere due to his aggression.

My now five year old daughter asks for Brody often, says that she misses him. I do not miss Brody-it was a very painful and traumatizing experience for me. I wanted a dog who would be good for my family with small children, a dog that was not too active that could agree with our lifestyle. All we got in return for our money was a mixed breed confused dog who growled and tried to attack our visitors and caused us nothing but pain.

Robin must be stopped. It should be illegal what she is doing. I am willing to join any class action suit against her as I was victimized and did not deserve what I got.
