I inquired on the internet about refinancing our home upon my husbands return from Iraq. The object was to get all the information so that my husband could decide if he wanted to do it or not. I was contacted by a Quicken Loans Rep. Named Ryan Stevenson. He used a very hard selling approach. He said that I could do the refinancing while my husband was away and that that was the best option.
He convinced me to give a $350 good faith deposit that would be refunded if for any reason the loan fell through. They sent out an appraiser who appraised our home for $36,000. May I mention that our home is 1 and 1/2 years old. The appraiser had the owner of the home wrong as well as alot of other information in the appraisal. The comps he used were two mobile homes, a 40 year old house, 11 year old house and a 7 year old house.
Although I provided Quicken Loans with Fanie Mae's appraisal quidelines whick clearly shows he did not follow the guidelines they refuse to refund the money.
Did I mention that my husband was furious when he returned from Iraq that they conducted all of this in his name with out ever obtaining a power of attorney.
