My computer was infected with spyware and a pop-up message warned me that I had several viruses. The "free" scan showed severe infections with the only removal through XP Antivirus 08 (which showed the icon for Windows Security). However, when the order form appeared it was not through MS but a realistic web page called Software Support Service with a picture of an official looking operator (headset and all). I checked it out a few times and it appeared to be the real thing - but when I ordered the software I was charged $133.32 for what should have been $49.99 download and the software DID NOT download plus my credit card was charged an additional $2.27 for international fees of which I have no idea where they came from until I just read other consumer complaints stating others have also been charged the same type of fees. I was given an invoice with an order number with the support phone # but when I attempted to call several times that night at different intervals I also received the same message, same wait time and then a disconnect. That's when I began to get suspicious and realized that I had been scammed. I am currently disputing the charges with the bank and hope that by filing this complaint (and seeing other complaints) this will be substantial evidence to get these people. They are copying icons and logos from Microsoft to give the impression that are selling valid XP operating system software antivirus - and they need to be infected with this same virus!
