WARNING: STAY AWAY FROM RANGER AMERICAN unless you want to get ripped off. First let me say this... All of these security monitoring companies are a waste of money. Why? All one has to do is cut your phone line and the system won't work. Second reason is because bugglers know they have 10-15 min before police will show up and most break-ins.
The second thing to note is that if you want home security and your system says what mine did "You must contact Ranger American to activate this system" well that is simply a LIE. According to representatives from ADT, they told me they can provide the service since Ranger American is simply a cheap, sleazy broker who goes through ADT.in fact, you can get the service cheaper through ADT if you go direct.
Now, all that aside, I purchased a 3-year contract with a guarantee on the equipment. I even purchased an additional $1500 in new additional equipment (2 wireless motion detectors and 6 wireless fire alarms). Whatever problems might occur with the equipment would be covered. I had many problems with teh system over the first couple of months. Then they determined the monitoring equipment wasn't working right. They came out a few times but the problem was never fixed as I only found out later after they left each time. Finallythey gave up and stopped coming. I called and called and insisted they fix the problem, as agreed to in my contract. They stopped taking my calls. These people are complete boiler room scum bags!
So I contact the headquarters of Ranger American. I get the same run around. Apparently, they let each office run itself like one of those boiler room shops. I even contacted ADT on many occassions. Several employees who had stated they had been working for ADT for 10-20 years told me that they knew exactly how I felt because they heard the same story many times before. They said of all the vendors they work with RANGER AMERICAN IS THE WORST AND GETS THE MOST COMPLAINTS.
After realizing I would never get my alarm to work and Ranger American would not fix it, I canceled my service through ADT within 4 months. As it turns out, these Ranger American CROOKS try to bill me for 3 years worth of services thereafter. Wow these guys are huge crooks. I contacted the local RA office collections dept and the lady too was like a boiler room employee. Basically she would not listen to any reasoning. Her rationale was you need to pay your bill even though they didnt't provide promised services. Liek all other companies Ranger American uses the THREAT OF REPORTING YOU TO CREDIT AGNECIES as a way to try to get you to pay for something that you ARE LEGALLY NOT REQUIRED TO SINCE THEY DID NOT FULFILL THE TERMS OF THE CONTRACT!
Lesson is stay away from the ranger american crooks at any cost. And avoid signing any contracts with any companies. Simply refuse.
The builders are in on this scam too since they recieve money to let Ranger American instal their crappy hardware into their homes.
This is just one reason why you should NEVER EVER SIGN A SERVICE CONTRACT. My experiences with cell phone, satellite and other service contracts are other reasons why I will never sign another contract because they are rip-offs and you will always get screwed if there is a problem. Remember, once you sign a contract, you are basically giving up your rights to receive good service and you have signed off on the duration of the contract... It's like making a commited payment for the entire term of teh contract. The companies that sell you these contracts don't giove a damn when the service sucks or goes down. Why? Because they sell off your contract to a third-party financial company at a discount so they can receive the money immediately for the entire duration of the contract. When youhave a problem with the service and it is not fixed, since they have converted this contract into a tradable security, that my friends is fraud.

I am now filing a complaint with the FCC, the state attorney general and other regulatory agencies. I also plan to engage in a massive campaing to warn everyone about them, including mass emails and posting signs all over Dallas. I am going to FK THEM much worse than they fked me. Ranger american... Fk you!!!
