America's Choice Reader Service
Scam, unprofessional and liars

I am a college student, I received a call from this company offering me magazines. They told me that if I suscribed I would get a $1000 dollar shopping spree, being naive I accepted (only because of the shopping spree). They tell you they will mail out the shopping spree information as soon as you make your first payment (lie).

They have a cancelation policy of 3 days or something like that so if you dont cancel within that time frame you are stuck. When I received the shopping spree information it was a joke, its a catalog they send you can choose from things that are from the 1930's and tripple the price of what they are worth plus you have to pay a shipping and handling fee for each item you order (total BS).

Once I realized i was stuck i just decided to continue paying them becuase I had no other option. I received my magazines for about 2 months in a row and then all but one of them stop coming to my address. I notified them and filed a complaint. They told me that they would take care of it and I would start receiving my magazines shortly.

After two months of waiting for my magazines I called and spoke to someone by the name of Henry, he blatently called me a liar and said I was receiving my magazines, I demanded I speak to a supervisor and I spoke to a lady by the name of Nicole. She told me that she would deal with Henry and resolve my problem, I told her that I would not pay for a service I was not receiving. She told me that she would fix everything. That never happened.

After three months of not receiving any magazines I decided to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, on their website it suggest you contact the CEO Scott Sutherland.in my opinion dont even waste your time file the report with the BBB and let them mediate. I followed the suggestion and contacted Mr. Sutherland.

I received a call from a lady named Ashley Martinez, she told me she would fix the problem and would contact me in a month to make sure I was receiving my magazines, I once again stated to her I would not pay for a service i was not receiving she said she understood. A month went by and I never heard from Mrs. Martinez. I went on vacation and came back home only to find a letter from America;s Choice Reader Service letting me know I was sent to collection.

I immediately called them and spoke to a rude and vulgar supervisor by the name of Alex Cruz, after arguing with him for several minutes he finally transfered me to Mrs. Martinez. She told me that she was going to try to get the account back from the collection agency and call me back the next day. I waited for the call and it never came so I decided to give her the courtesy of one week to call me back. After a week passed I called back and once again had to speak the rude Alex Cruz.

After arguing with him for 10 minutes or so he told me he was a supervisor and he would not transfer the call to Mrs. Martinez becuase my account was in collection, i asked if I could speak to someone else and I then spoke to the rudest person I have ever dealt with in my life his name is Bryce Gummersol, I could not fathom how rude and unprofessional this company was.

So I emailed their CEO Mr. Sutherland again and explained the incompetance of his staff and my situation and that i only wanted to deal with him and no one else. I specifically stated i would seek legal counsel and file a complaint with the BBB if i did not get a response in a week.

The following day i received a call from someone by the name of George Peterson he claimed to be Mr. Sutherland's assistant, he offered me a settlement and guaranteed that my account was not in collection and would not show up on my credit report. At this point in time I was conered i could not afford for this company to report me to the credit bureau and have them mess with my credit, so I settled. Its time like these that make me wonder why I didnt study Law.

So to shorten my story please pass the word about this company dont let anyone you know be fooled by their scam.

Avoiding them is my only suggestion.
