My story: Around 7 o'clock PM I got an unusual phone call on my cell. My caller ID said New York&go figures. The man on the other end asked me if I had put my name in a draw at the Edmonton Bridal Show two weeks prior. He informed me that my name had been drawn and that I had own a package to Florida and the Bahamas.in front of him he had my entry ballet (which he said was hard to read) So he read back to me all the details.
It took several painstaking minutes for him to describe, in full detail, all that was included in my package. I could hardly believe it and I was beside myself. He then transferred me to a representative who informed me I was being recorded. This is where she mumbled several things. It was hard for me to understand everything, but I got the jist of it. It was very similar to what the man named Walter had informed of prior to this taped conversation. (Warning, this is where the "or" and the "rights to change" is slipped in, with the mumbling) She did leave out a couple of HIS details (like the first class accommodation on the cruise, and yes, a 24 hour call service to the room - he even went as far as to tell me there was a cord to pull!!!) I was promised an 8 day and 7 night package to Florida and the Bahamas, with free meals, airfare, a rent-a-car, 2 VIP passes to universal studios and a 2 night cruise... All for just $299 a person. (I was hooked)
I gave out my very personal and important information -MY CARD number-ALL for an unbelievable trip that has turned out to be just that. My level headed fianc came home two hours latter. He Goggled the customer service number 1-800-203-9783... It had scam written all over it!!!
What I did: I cancelled my card immediately. I told them I had been scammed. The next day I called the customer service number. (The fact is they have a SCAM going on but they have found a way around the legalities of their operation and have not been shut down, YET) I wanted it clear that I CANCELLED my trip with them.
DO NOT listen to them when they tell you to call back.inform them that it is their job and that is why you are calling and that you would like their assistance in the matter. The lady on the other end kept telling me that there were too many calls in the "specialist" department that she could not get me through. DO NOT hang up just tell her you will wait for her to get through...
I was told that I would not get my full refund back and that I am not allowed to cancel. I still don't know the pending charges on my account, but I want to know what it would take to get them band from Canada, and even better shut down! Also, are there any next steps I should take to keep them off my back? (they have the rest of my information, and I really don't like that)
