Faulty lower intake manifold gasket

My lower intake manifold gasket went out on my V6 3.4 engine on my chevy malibu 2003. I talked to a representative from GM and he basically told me that GM was aware of the problem (faulty lower intake manifold gasket), and that they faxed a noticed over to all the GM shops so when a customer would bring there car in describing the problems it was having that the mechanics would know what the problem was. When I called back after getting no answers, and telling the guy that I am a single mother with three kids, and that this is my only way to work, and my school, as well as dropping my kids off at daycare and school, he had no sympathy. My car had 68,000 miles on it at the time. My older brother also had a 2001 grand prix that had the same problem and he did not catch it on time, and had to replace the engine. My grandpa last month took his 2001 lumina in for the same problem... He ended up junking his car because they told him it would cost him 1800 to replace, my sister in law has a 2001 impala and now hers is doing the same thing as mine... She doesn't have the money to get it fixed. After calling GM back the second time I was told to not contact them about the issue anymore. I believe some lawyer in California got a law suit together and won. This is just ridiculous, and I will never ever ever ever buy another GM vehicle again. Before I would never buy a foreign car, now that is all I will ever buy.
