I received a call from an unavailable number and there was a very "friendly" female on the other line. She told me I was entered into a million dollar sweepstakes for being a VISA preferred customer. After chit chatting for awhile she informed me that I was going to receive a free diamond watch and two free magazine subscriptions. Seems cool right? Well after buttering me up with all of the free stuff she tells me that I will get an additional two subscriptions for the "low" cost of $3.83 a week, comes out to about $15 bucks a month, for 48 months. Anyhoo after speaking to the lady a gentlemen, her "manager" gets on the phone. He asks me if my address and such are accurate and then asks me for my debit card number. A little curious I gave him the 16 digit number and before I gave him the CVC I asked him if there was any way I could verify who he is and he immediately spits out a whole bunch of convincing info. So me being an idiot and a sucker gave him the CVC. I asked him if I could cancell it at anytime and he said "yes". About 10 minutes after getting off the phone another women called me and verified that I spoke to the other lady, I think her name was Trish and the guys name was Ryan S. I can't remember his last name. Anyways the Women verified my info and apparently recorded our conversation, smart. Unfortunately the conversation has me verifying all the info so that sucks. However it also has me asking her when I will be billed and she said not til the fifth of the next month. Well I checked my account shortly after feeling very uneasy, and sure enough my account had been charged 40 something dollars! So I called the customer service line at my bank and had the payment stopped, cancelled my debit card so I they couldn't charge it anymore. The customer service lady said they would try to force the charge since it is VISA but it can still be disputed. I am very angry and extremely embarrassed for falling victim to something like this especially when I had a bad feeling about it anyways. I got suckered and took the bait. But I called the number that I found on this site and left a very heated message and told them this won't go un checked. I am going to do everything I can to sue these people to the wall, whether or not it works due to the measures they took I won't know. But if you are reading this NEVER EVER give sensative information over the phone or internet regardless of how tempting the offer.
