Is a big scam artist, they don't help you out, they just rip you off

I just want to inform the consumers exactly how CarMax works. I bought a 1998 GMC Jimmy from them back in January. At first I was extremely excited about it. I loved my vehicle, but shortly after purchasing it things went very wrong.

I purchased the extended warranty and it is a good thing that I did. Not long after purchasing the vehicle problem after problem kept arising. You would think that since CarMax claims to do such an extensive inspection of the vehicles that they sell, you wouldn't have any problems at all. But that wasn't the case at all.

The vehicle ended up needing close to $8000.00 of repairs within a short period of time. These repairs include, but are not limited to a new engine, a new transmission, a compressor for the air conditioner, work on the emergency brake, repairs to the four wheel drive because it kept slipping into 4HI while I was driving, and a new back hatch window. These are just some of the repairs.

There were other repairs that I had done by some one other than CarMax. Those include, but are not limited to, a new fuel pump, a circuit board for the windshield wipers, a blower motor for the heat and air conditioner, etc.

I went back to CarMax to try to get them to take the vehicle back, but they only offered me $3000.00 when I still owed approx. $8000.00. They claimed that this was due to the fact that I had put 20,000 miles on the vehicle in one year.

After almost three years of owning the vehicle, I was the victim of vandalism.in which case some person started my truck on fire in the middle of the night. Now, I had an insurance company that the salesperson at CarMax referred me to at the time of purchase. I would not have had this insurance otherwise. To make a really long story short, the insurance company jerked me around for about two months and then came back and told me that I had two choices. I could either take a replacement vehicle of the same year, make, and model with close to the same mileage as the one that had been damaged and declared a total loss or I could take the cash settlement.

I of course decided that I would like to have my truck replaced. Now here comes the kicker. I had to have the approval of CarMax in order to do this since they are my lien holder, so I called them and told them the situation. They told me that I could not have the vehicle replaced by the insurance company because it was an exchange of collateral and that is against their policy. And then they informed me that the only way to protect myself from something like this is to obtain Gap insurance (which I had never heard of) and they do not offer it. They would not allow me to purchase another vehicle because I still owed approx. $7000.00. So, I had to settle for the cash settlement which was about one third of the balance of my loan.

Now, because I bought the biggest piece of crap vehicle from CarMax and purchased automobile insurance from some no name company that their salesman referred me to, I am stuck paying for a vehicle that I no longer have.

I guess that my point is that CarMax does not care about their customers. The vehicles they sell are garbage, they won't work with you, and they will sell you some insurance that is about as good as a piece of used toilet paper. Basically, if you buy from CarMax, you're screwed. I would never recomend that another person buy from them. They are misleading, they rip you off, they sell you crap. They are SCAM ARTISTS!

Bottom line, you are better off buying a power wheel than any vehicle from CRAPMAX.
