Ken Kanter Representing Dynasty Sales
Scams you into buying a magazine. Gives you a receipt with little info. Asks you if he can come in your house. Other complaints filed on him, hence my report., Las Vegas Nevada

A man came to my door saying he is a UNLV film student who is selling magazines so he can go on a trip to England to work on a BBC production for a semester. As I was looking over the products he kept talking and talking. He asked me if I knew a Ms. Tichner or something like that from up the street, said she has a big red truck in her driveway, blah blah blah. I said no. He then showed me a check and said she had just bought some magazines and he is only a couple away from getting the trip.

He then asked if I knew a Ms. So and So (didn't catch the name) and I said no. He mentioned how he lived with his mom right up the street. He even said she has the black BMW 580 series or something in her driveway, blah blah blah he was a chatterbox. Normally, I would say no to a door to door sales pitch, but I had been wanting People magazine, and the other check he showed me from a neighbor had comforted my initial reservations about him. Like an idiot I agreed to buy a magazine.

To my surprise he asked if he could use my table to write out the check. Like and idiot I let him in. As I wrote the check he chatted away—said he was from Pennsylvania, had a 2 year old son with autism, he has an aunt from Pacific Palisades, he has a 14 year old brother with autism... On and on.

I noticed he kind of smelled and as he chatted away he started to look older than I initially thought. Plus I was feeling like a real idiot for letting him in even if my dogs were there. I wanted him out of my house and I wanted him out now, so I signed the check handed it to him and got up.

He left and I immediately ran to my computer. I looked up Dynasty Sales LLC and found a complaint for a Ken Kant from Dynasty Sales. I grabbed my keys, locked my house, and got into my car. I was hoping to catch him at a neighbor's door and I would ask for the check back. I couldn't find him.

After a quick search of the neighborhood, I came home and called my bank, cancelled the check and closed my account down. I continued to look for more info on him. Sure enough I came across two other complaints one for a Ken Kant and another for a Ken Kantner. At this point, I looked at the receipt he had given me and sure enough it was from Ken Kantner.

His MO seems to be to say he is a neighbor of yours. He also asks to come into your home—for me it was so he could write the receipt out on a table, and for another complainter he asked for a glass of water.

Although I immediately stopped payment on the check and closed my account down, one complainter claims Dynasty Sales keeps calling her for payment of magazines she never received. Another lady said she gave him cash and she never got the magazines she ordered. The other complainter found out it was a scam when his neighbor told him he had found a clump of Dynasty receipts on his lawn. This man immediately stopped payment on the check.

Bottom Line: Do not buy from Ken Kant or Ken Kantner. And don't ever be stupid enough to let even the most unassuming person in your home. Be rude, it is your safety. I learned the hard way that I am too trusting.
