I was contacted by ASF in the last week of May. I went through the same speel as everyone else. I was very skeptical about giving up my personal information, but after speaking with the manager, I fell for their trap. I didn't really have the money to spare, but they made it sound sooo official. They played a official sounding recording "supposedly by a gov't agency for legal purposes, " and at that point I should have stopped. During the recording there was some things that I didn't agree with so I said no. He stopped the tape and gave me explanations for everything and once again placed the manager on the phone to quell any doubts I had. So I went ahead with the automatic transfer from my account. Which was the first thing that made me upset, b/c they didn't take it out when I told them to, which caused a mixup in my account costing me an extra $35.
Secondly, I was also misled during the initial call, b/c I was never informed about the 12 week waiting period. So after calling them several times, they finally told me that I had to wait 3-15 days for the information package that I had to fill out. Upset, I waited. When it came, I filled it out and sent it back immediately. Thinking that was the final step, I waited 72 hrs and checked my account, and the next day.

After 2 more days, I called and thats when the real run-around began.

I sent my package in around July 10th. After calling them dozens of times, and being put on hold, waiting, and being hung up on, I finally was told that I was to get my package the last week of September. Once again, upset, I said, "what can I do, but wait." So October comes and still nothing. Once again, I start calling them and getting the run-around. "Its in the mail, " "You haven't recieved a call?" "You should have gotten it by now." Or some excuse. So all through October and November they gave me dates by when I should recieve my next package.

So now i'm like, hold on, I already got the pckg., and sent it back, now i'm waiting on my money. So then I found out that I'm now waiting on another pckg. That I have to take up to the local agency in my home state, and they'll tell me what grant I qualify for and dispense the money. They said that if I don't receive it by Dec. 24, I'll have to wait until after their vacation which will be around Jan. 15.

Its now December 20 and I've been playing this phone game with those arrogant expletives at 18665692573 all week. Now the supervisor, Ms. King, who was assisting me previously, has been transferred, a rep named Gabrielle Jones that I spoke to 20 mins ago is now "not in today." And Rachel Smith is now not in today either, when I spoke with her earlier. So obviously the customer service reps are giving out false names, false information, and playing with people's money and emotions.

I've filed two suits with the Better Business Bureau against American Standard Financial. The company is so deceitful and blatently under-handed, that they wouldn't even respond to the BBB. I am now seeking legal action against AmeriSCAM SCAMdard LIEnancial.
