I have been receiving on-line bills from Bellsouth (now ATT), and having charges deducted automaticly from my bank, as I travel frequently.
Yesterday, I happened to check the bill, and was surprised to find that since June I have been charged an extra $9.07 by ILD Telecom for voice mail services supposedly signed up for in June.
Since I am out of the country, and was unable to find non-800 telephone numbers for eithe ATT or ILD (800 numbers do not work overseas), I had a friend call, first ATT (who would not give him a number I can call) and then ILD Teleservices.
ATT insisted on dealing with ILD though under Florida law telephone companies are responsible for third-party billers.
ILD agreed to refund the last 3 months and to stop future billings.
Unbelievable that this scam is condoned by ATT and allowed to continue given the number of complaints I located by a simple Google search.
I am still out for 4 months billing and will seek to recover those funds when I get back to the states.
Can anybody spell class action on this one?
