Hired, wasted gas, time, and turned down other employment to be let go w / no pay

On the 12th of November I was propositioned by Lincoln Specialist Inc. To head their Raleigh, NC office. I was promised a salary of $800.00 a week, company gas card/vehicle/cell phone, and $900.00 a month to cover my lodging. We all set up a departure date of November 24th and to be in place in Raleigh, NC by the 25th of November.

When the 25th of November came and I had still not heard from any members of Lincoln Specialist Inc. I called 1 of the 4 part owners Jason Haugh which told me to report to their office on Monday morning. I reported to the office on Monday morning to find out that I was going to be held over another week for so-called training that I needed.

I started to get an uneasy feeling about the situation and was not comfortable with just having a Verbal Agreement. I went to Jason Haugh and asked for a contract / something more professional. Jim Haugh then typed up an Offer Letter which we both signed stating my salary, lodging payments, company gas card/vehicle along with cell phone and starting dates. The salary start date was put down as the 22nd of November, and the lodging payment would start on the 1st of December.

So from the 22nd of November - 3rd of December i had to report to Lincoln Specialist Inc. Office in Atlanta, Ga for so-called training that I needed before they would send me up to North Carolina. I would get there and sit with the administrative assistant and help her with her job of collecting Quality Assurance Photos from the Field Technicians.

On the evening of the 26th of November while driving home from Lincoln Specialist office my car began to act up and died on me. I had to put my car in the shop that next morning and got a total bill of $1156.44. I asked Jason Haugh for an advancement being that I had spent close to $2000.00 to get out of my newly signed lease on my apt. To be able to travel to NC for the company.

Jason told me that he would take his father (Art Haugh) out to lunch and discuss it with him and have an answer for me. Before I realized the day was over and Jason had left for the day and did not get back with me. While I sat in his dads (Art) office i ran my situation by him and he said he would check with Sherrie (Finance) about how much they could advance me.

I got advanced $500.00 by Art personally and was to reinsburse him for that from the 1st check i was to be paid ($800.00). On the 3rd of December I was told by Art that Jason wanted to speak with me prior to me driving up to NC. From the hours of 8am - 12:30 pm i waited around for Jason to speak to me, but again he did not get back to me.

Jim Haugh, and Josh Larsen was sent in Arts office by Jason and Art to break the news to me that they were not going to keep the NC project open so there was no need for my services. So after a total of 21 days, $3156.44 spent to opt out of my lease, and to have my car fixed I am now homeless, and without a job around the Holidays.

All i asked the company for was $830.00 for my 10 days of travelling back and forth to the office. I would atleast think they would compesate me with that being that I am not employed and i dont have my apt. Any longer.
