On August 17, after I'd just moved into my off-campus house for school, a young man posing as a student forced his way into my door. He said that he needed people to buy magazine subscriptions so that he could earn trip points.
I didn't want to participate in this, but he was already inside my house and making me feel extremely uncomfortable. I told him repeatedly that I did not want to do it but he kept pushing and would not leave until I did. He promised that I could cancel the subscription within 3 days and my check would be sent back to me.
I wrote him a check for $88.00. I sent the cancellation and got no response. I learned that they had cashed my check two days after it had been written. Its been four months and there is no sign of any magazines or my money back.
These people are blatantly stealing. How can they get away with it?
