I bought my home thinking that I would have a beautiful home of my own in the country, the first beautiful home to call my own. I spent all of my Grandfather's inheritance money as a down payment on this, what I thought was the home of my dreams... Come to find out it was the night mare of my dreams! Two weeks after I moved in my home was broken into and the back door was torn out of the wall because the hinges and the lock mechanism were so poorly put on that the whole wall gave way instead of just the door. The man who fixed the door, which is a mock french door said that the way that the door was broken and the wall shredded that the entire door piece would have to be replaced instead of just the single door... Which is what should have happened... Doesn't say much for quality construction... He also said that had they used the proper lock in that door being a longer bolt set into the wood with a little steele reinforcement that it never would have happened! Thus my safety would not have been compromised. One would think that Luv Homes and their design would have already thought of this! Also upon moving in I realized that my side door storm door was hung backwards... And the stairs were going the wrong direction!
You actually opened the storm door from left to right which in turn blocked the stairs which were on the right! I said that I wanted a new door hung to match the way that the stairs went... Uh! How much of a no brainer would that be... They actually asked me and my father to go buy the door and they would reimburse us... Can we say no can do! My father is elderly and If I paid close to 150,000 for this home, I think that they can fix their own screw ups! Well to make a long story short I had to manuever around that stupid door for almost 2 months before they did something about it... They brought me a different set of stairs... OK fix I guess if you are too lazy or cheap to buy another door! The worst that happened I didn't notice until my heat bill in January after moving in November, my monthly heat bill was 226.00 for a cost effective heat conserving home... NO WAY!
I called to see what was the matter with the heat pump and why it was not working properly... The ducts were not connected to the underside of the house... I had been heating the crawl space from November-January... They did not even think to reimburse half of that heat bill, or any of the high ones from the previous months... It also took 3 months and me paying the phone company extra to get the house rewired for phone service because they did not do the wiring of the phones up to code with the way that the phone company requires... I wonder what else is not properly wired? Now I am trying to sell my home and have found recently that I should have done a more thorough inspection of the steps that they redid there is a gaping hole where they took the old ones out and neglected to rebrick where it was. I called about this recently, and they said that I cannot call 5 mos. After something has been fixed and tell them that it was not done properly... Well pardon me for not noticing every little brick in my foundation every day... Regardless of this they should still fix it if I am in my year of warranty especially if they are the ones who messed it up in the first place!!! I now have sink hole coming out from the drain pipe in the septic tank and OH! Boy! I am afraid to ask what that means... But some how I have to figure a way to sell this home... I lost my job and I have to sell but I am worried that the messes that they have caused will keep me from ever selling the Money Pit!
Another thing they really should consider painting the walls for you for the price they put on the home... Rather than making you do it yourself... Primer just doesn't cut it... They could let you pick your paint out and bring it to them and have it done when you move in!
