Following Ripoff's hyperlink, I fill out the needed information and get Equifax site. There is 3 (three steps) noted. Step one is obvious and straight forward. A

What—almost $40.00 a year for something costing Equifax pennies a year?

Equifax indicated I had a mortage in 2006 in step one. I don't own a home or have not done business with any of the companies listed on that page.
Step two and beyond is another universe than getting my once a year free credit report, my governemt has told me I am entitled to.
I gave up and am not sure this is some phishing site by the way the step 2 goes.
NOTE: Ripoff report does not have a fitting catagory for this to my observation.
