I had noticed a "shoppingesse" one other month on my credit card bill, but had bought some gifts online and thought I just didn't recognize the billing company. This month I saw it again and called the phone number. There was a message asking me to enter my credit card number before I could continue. I didn't like that idea, so I called my credit card company to file a dispute. My credit card company will charge "Shopping Essentials Plus" what they charged me from July-October ($39.90/month plus some random $9-something charges for a total of ~$190) unless they provide proof that I signed up for this service. (I NEVER sign up for this kind of crap!!!) My credit card company could not charge back for the month of June, however, which was one charge of $39.90 and another one for $9.95. I have yet to take care of this.
I use my credit cards quite a bit and these charges are relatively small and could have easily sneaked by another month or so... I still do not know how they got my credit card number, but it must have been from some shopping online—at stores I thought I could trust.
