Merit Transportation CO is a trucking company based in Omaha Nebraska. They have had no health insurance coverage since JAN of this year. The employees have had deductions from there paychecks weekly but the company has not funded the account. (they are self insured to a point) They have had 400 employees at one time. They have had employees with open heart surgeries that have healthcare bills as high as 150,000.00 and
are in collections. No claims have been paid from the first of the year.
The employees have hundreds of thousands of dollars out with collection activities going on. They are getting collection calls at work and home. The management (Gary Wills, Jim Hill and Uli Eitel) say they are working on it. The benefits administration services regional office in Kansas city has had over 90 complaints filed and still have no enforcement people assigned to this case. Let me restate they are still deducting premiums from employees for COVERAGE THEY DO NOT HAVE... (That is criminal)
These people are effecting the lives of there employees daily and have no remorse. Employees have called the Nebraska attorney general for action. Hopefully they can get the intimidation stopped by these unscrupulous employers.
