How the wealthy steal pettily from their clients

A month ago or less I bought my dream car from this dealership. At first I believed it was karma that the exact car I was looking for was in a Mercedes dealership! The car from the get-go had problems with the starting of the car. The man who sold it to me told me "It was because I was not driving it enough" - yeah., - right.

This past Friday afternoon the car totally would not start. AAA came out 1 1/2 hours later and said the battery was the original battery (over 7 years old) and should have been changed out. Now that the battery has gone, because this car is totally electronically controlled, it has affected your throttle so it revs till it turns off again.

I attempted contacting several dealers of batteries in the area. No one carries it (a bit strange don't you think)?? In any case, I had to rent a car out of my own pocket (I could not even get ahold of my sales rep even though the person who answered the phone told me he was there. He did not even answer my voice mails)!!! So, forget the "loaner" car.

Then... I was forced to take it to a BMW dealer on Saturday (towed and scratched in the process because he did not know how to negotiate a hill) and then when I get to the dealer he informs me that he too does not have the battery (could have told me that when I called him) and will get back to me the same day on what was what. He calls me in the late afternoon (1 hour before they close) to tell me it will be the battery and a device behind the throttle that together will amount to close to $2000!! Then get in touch with RBM and tell thim what I think about this hoodwinking (you know, how they make the cars shine when you purchase them so that the defects do not show till it is of the lot).
In any case though, I had been in CONSTANT CONTACT with them about the starting problem and their answer was "you bought it as is and we do not have any responsibility".

In my past life I owned my own ground transportation company that was quite reknown. I can tell you that even when the customer was very clearly in the wrong, - we accommodated them because that is what customer relations is all about. This dealership knew I bought this car as a "treat" if you will because the negotiated price took it to around the price of a Camry.in short -it was for the fun of the driving of it. Not the status symbol.

I regress - the bottom line is that they knew there was a problem and not a $2000 one to start and they just ignored it. Their behaviour and that of the BMW dealership is deplorable and the reason auto sales has the reputation that it does. Well deseved!!! P.S. I also contacted the owner who has many large dealerships in the ATL area and is quite well-to-do and he did not even have the courtesy to reply
