Lost Eras, Charolett Walters
(at) "Lost Eras" They kept my money to compensate themselves for time wasted when they decided to cancel my order

I used to be a good contractor for Lost Eras, a vintage shop in Chicago. One day I jumped into a deal for an order of some stuff that she was ordering as well. She put down $100, then another $50 to buy me something as a friend for being a help to her business as well. I also chipped in $50 for a birthday present for my friend, and another $3 for shipping.

A week later I called up. She said she cancelled the order, she never said why, and that she'll have one of her employees run her refund check back to me in the mail in ten minutes.

A week later, no mail. She lives down the street. Both manager and employee say that it's prolly a postal error. She, Charolett Walters (?), the manager/owner there, told me to wait about a month for the order to finish canceling through paypal, then I would get my money back. (Why should I have to wait for her to get her refund back before I get mine? I gave her cash.)

A month later... No one's picking up.
Another month, the same.
I go back, and an employee there gives me an envelope with a credit on a receipt for an order to Microcenter. I told her that I would ONLY accept this if I got my money back as well, for my troubles of wasting money coming up there every so often for my money back. She called up the manager, and the manager/owner stated that she would be sending a check as well.

A few weeks go by, and I call up again. The employee puts me through to the manager/owner and she tells me that to keep the credit to the other store as PART of the refund, and she'll give me $12.

I went down to the store to demand my money back. She snatched the credit receipt back and told me she wouldn't give me my money back because of ALL the trouble she went through in cancelling the order. I explained it was her idea to go ahead and cancell it, not mine, and I shouldn't be responsible for that in any way. I told her she simply needed more ram to make her security system run more smoothly off of 7-8 cameras, and it would have.

When I asked about the checks she supposedly sent, she exclaimed "Well, I changed my mind about those too, I never wrote them out!"

She then went on into calling me a con-artist, "telling her to buy sh*t she didn't need" and practically destoying her computer, though a former employee can attest that that computer never worked in the 5 years he worked there, and was surprised I got it to work. And guess what folks, I only charged her $30, and I put in over 14 hours into it because she needed it the next morning!!! She also said that she got an error saying "IP Confliction" or something, and screamed at me that someone was hacking her.

She then called the cops, saying I was being a disturbance and trespassing, even though she invited me to come to the store to collect my money back. She then lied to the cops that I was 'really' there 'to collect payment for a shitty job (I) did on (her) computer systems.'. When I explained my side to the cop, he beleived me instead, though 3 more cops showed up and 'spoiled the stew', so to speak, by trying to 'get everything under controll' without listening to the problem. I got kicked out and left dry without any info of how to press charges against this crazed theif and liar.

I mean, even if her lie to the cops was true, I'd still be in the clear because a contract is a contract.

She threatened to lie that I ever gave her money if I brought her to court.

Good thing I recorded a few memos of our argument on my phone while there.

"She kept my money to compensate themselves for time wasted when she decided to cancel my order."
