I ordered my credit report on www.freecreditreport.com in early July online. I was not really impressed by the services offered by the website so I decided to call and cancel before the end of the free 30 day trial so that my account would not be charged (as advertised by freecreditreport.com).
I called their customer service line around the middle of July and attempted to cancel the account. The representative informed me that I would have access to the account until the end of the month so it would be best to call back at the end of the month to cancel. She also informed me that should I decide not to cancel, I will be billed $4.95 since there was a special promotion.
At the end of the month, I forgot to cancel my account, so I expected to be charged $4.95. This was fair and due to them since I was the one who forgot to cancel the account. I called the next day to cancel the account and literally had to fight with the representative to cancel me account. I also had noticed that instead of $4.95 I was billed $12.95. I mentioned this to the representative also and requested a refund. She reluctantly cancelled the account and agreed to send my refund.
A few days later I still had not received the credit of $12.95, but I noticed an additional $4.95 being charged to my account! This brings it to a total of $17.90 for something that should have cost $4.95 in the beginning!
I again called customer service and was transferred to billing. The representative who spoke with my informed me that the notes indicated that I had refused my refund! I told him that was ridiculous. To add insult to injury the previous representative did not cancel my account as I requested... She extended access until September (even though she never mentioned this to me) and that is why I was being charged an additional $4.95.
I have yet to receive my refund, I will be monitoring my bank account and hopefully I recieve it soon.

... Allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just
file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their
company. Plus, if you post a competitors name more than likely they will
show up on search engines as a Rip-off! - - your comments on this policy
are welcome.
