I was charged $89.95 for "credit monitoring service" on my credit card. I had already cancelled my account with them. I too, like many others, wanted the free credit report and somehow ended up with the monitoring service. When I logged into my account to check to see what I had for account options, it turned out I had no options. I had no active reports and my monitoring service was not active.
When I called customer service the lady told me that in order to ensure that my monitoring service was active I had to order another credit report for $14.95. I told her to cancel my account and refund the $89.95 that I didn't need their service and I wasn't going to purchase another credit report from them. She started arguing with me and three times I had to ask her to cancel my account and refund my money.
She came back on the line and told me the refund should be on my account in 7-10 business days. I will be watching for it.
